Harrisburg Railers Series by RJ Scott and V.L Locey

M/M Ice Hockey Romance Series

So, as previously stated in the initial opening post (dated 15.05.19), I will always advise what genre the books I am reading  fall into. I’m thinking the best way to do this is to stick it in the title, that way you can choose to read on or not.

Firstly, from my experience as an author who doesn’t write LGBT, M/M, F/F novels etc, it seems that if you write a romance under these genres, your work is either automatically refused from sale at certain retailers, or on others, they automatically get placed in a weird, unnecessary, irrelevant, LGBT erotica category as opposed to romance, which is what they are! Why on earth do they do this? I have no idea! But if you do write LGBT and this has happened to you, please let me know!

Anyway, I was browsing categories in KU and found this series (not in a weird category, I might add). I started reading the first book purely because I was looking for some diversity in my choices. Needless to say, I was quite hooked by the end, and carried on until I’d finished all six books.

I am not going to go into detail of each book, but they are well written, and address a variety of subjects, ranging from the most obvious of being gay in a very masculine sport and the ramifications of coming out, to falling in love when it is unexpected, to dealing with typical prejudices faced by LGBT sports personalities.

From a reader point of view, while I would say they can be read as standalones, due to the references to characters and the stories, I personally would probably start at book one and work your way through.

Overall, I enjoyed this series and would recommend it.

RJ Scott and V.L. Locey are new authors to me, but I’m definitely a fan and will be reading more of their work.

Happy reading,

Elle X
